Glenwood Dale Vickers

Glenwood Dale Vickers, 75 of Abilene, passed away from this life into the arms of his Heavenly Father on Friday, August 14, 2015 with his loving wife and family by his side. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel at Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.

Glen was born on July 7, 1940 to Jimmy and Katie Vickers in Lueders, Texas. Glen began his career by serving as a fireman with the Abilene Fire Department for 9 years and then spent the next 25 years working as a technician for TV Cable in Abilene. After his retirement from the cable company, Glen met and became lifelong friends with the people who own The Western Edge, managing the club for the next 8 years. Glen later went to work in the wind industry for R.D. Inc as a safety coordinator, until his retirement at the age of 70.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Katie Vickers, brothers T.J. Vickers and Kenneth Vickers, and sisters Jimmy Juanette Wilhite and Ramona Vickers. Left to forever cherish his love and devotion to them are his wife Sandie Vickers, daughters Juanette Harman and husband Todd, Susie Brecheen and their mother, Mary Welch; adopted daughter Karla Jackson and husband Ricky; grandchildren Amanda Harman, Eathan Brecheen and wife Julia, Tyler Harman and wife Sarah, great-grandson Mack Brecheen; special nephew Albert Wilhite; beloved doggie Lil Bit, various other family and a wealth of wonderful friends.

Glen will be sorely missed by many who experienced his love for them and his interest in their lives. He made everyone he came into contact with feel special. He was very much a gentleman and treated everyone with understanding and respect. We will deeply miss him.
