Glenna May Ruff

Glenna May Ruff, 80 of Abilene, passed away at a local medical center on August 12, 2015. A graveside service will be held Tuesday August the 18th at 1:00 pm at the Texas State Veteran Cemetery in Abilene. A viewing and visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00-11:30 am Tuesday morning at Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St.

Glenna was born on September 27, 1934 in Eastland, Texas to Strimon and Ruby Williamson. She spent much of her childhood in small West Texas towns while her father farmed and worked in the oil field. In 1955, after graduating from high school Glenna met the love of her life J.B. Ruff and the two were married in Abilene on December 28th of that year. J.B. had just returned home from four years in the Army and decided to settle in Abilene. Together they spent the next 50 plus years raising their family here.

Surviving Glenna are her sons; Jim and Joe Ruff, a sister, Patsy Ruth Gossline, and three grandsons, Jon Paul Ruff, Eric Ruff and Jim Bob Ruff, Jr. as well as many extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, Richard Williams and two infant siblings.
