Roy Donnell Willis, 73 of Abilene, passed away at Hendrick Medical Center on Thursday, July 9, 2015. A memorial service is planned for 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 13, 2015 at Freedom Fellowship Church, 941 Chestnut Street.
Roy was born on October 19, 1941 in Brownwood, Texas to John Pinkerton and Zella Mae Willis. Roy spent much of his life in Brownwood until he and his wife, Joan Linda, moved to Abilene in 1997. Roy worked as a mechanic for Bell Helicopter, was very active with the Freedom Fellowship Church, served as an usher at the Highland Church of Christ, helped with Boy Scout Troop #272 and volunteered with many local civic organizations.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 21 years, Joan Linda Willis. He is survived by his son, John Williams and wife Crystal of Fayetteville, Arkansas, daughters Debra Nickle and husband Ryan of Indianapolis, Indiana, Donna Montes and husband Darryl of Abilene and Nicole Carpenter of Abilene, brother Kelly Willis of Abilene; grandchildren Blaine Williams, Shaylee Williams, Guy Williams, Preston Adams, Matthew Nixon, Mary Alice Diaz, Alexander Betts, Dylan Betts and Alex Lowery and great-grandchildren Ethan Williams, Maddolynn Williams and Jaxon Williams.
