Marie Alpha White

Marie A. White, 91, passed away at a local medical center on May 25, 2015. There will be a visitation with the family on Wednesday evening from 5:30 to 6:30 at the Piersall Funeral home, 733 Butternut Street. The service honoring Marie’s life will be Thursday May 28, 2015 at 10:00am in the Piersall Chapel with a burial to follow at Glen Rest Cemetery in Big Lake, Texas at 4:00pm.

Marie was born in Big Spring Texas to Dalton and Mamie Hamby. She attended high school and married SL White. Maries’ husband was a veteran of WWll and they made their home in Big Lake, Texas for many years. She and SL were accomplished golfers and won many tournaments over their life time. Marie loved to sew and she made many dresses and shirts during her later years for the children at Sam’s Place, an orphanage in Kenya for deaf children. Marie was a long time member of the Church of Christ and attended the Main street congregation in Big Lake and the South 11th and Willis congregation in Abilene for the last 5 years.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, a brother and a sister. She is survived by her daughter Estelle Ruth Sinclair and husband Ken, a brother, Daryl Hamby and wife Brenda, three sisters Winona Fincher, Eunetta McAnally, Myrna Unbehend, grandchildren David Sinclair and wife Paula, Kyna Sinclair, Sam, and Michael White and Christina Wedeman and numerous great grandchildren. Marie will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends.
