Sandra Louise Bess Garrett was born February 27th, 1950 to Peggy (Riddle) and Sandy Bess in Odessa, Texas. Sandra was raised by her adoptive mother, Eloise (Sue Bell) Weaver, but at 37, located her biological family and fostered a relationship with her mother prior to her death in 1998.
Sandra, known as Mom, Weezer and Sandi to those who loved her, married Larry Joe Garrett in 1968. She loved him so much, she married him twice more. She and Larry had two handsome and intelligent sons.
Sandi was a devoted mother to Larry and wife Sheri Easton-Garrett of Nashville, Tennessee, and Bryant and wife Dawn Garrett of Abilene. She was a loving grandmother Sarah Garrett, Seth Easton , Sam Copple, Max Copple and great grandmother to Harlequin Stapleton.
Sandi was an avid golfer who instilled the love of the game in her boys. She played in many tournaments, often placing in the top 3.
Graduating from Odessa Permian High School of Friday Night Lights fame, she was loyal to her alma mater and followed Mojo football the rest of her life. Sandi helped Larry Garrett found West Artesia Oil in Cisco, Texas. Later she returned to school and obtained her Bachelors of Applied Science Degree at McMurry University and then her Master’s Degree in Gerontology from Abilene Christian University.
Sandi was a member of the Chickasaw Nation (at large).
Sandi’s life work was helping the addict who still suffers and she spent countless hours in service work at various jails and other institutions, carrying a message of hope. Her home was always a haven for those attempting to change their lives. She will be dearly missed by many.
