Sally Faye Hill Bucherie

February 24, 1935 — March 16, 2015

Sally Faye Bucherie, 80, of Abilene went home to be with her Savior on Monday, March 16th at a local care facility. A visitation will be held on Thursday evening March 19th from 5 to 7 pm at the Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street in Abilene. A graveside service will be held at Elmwood cemetery at 10:00 am on Friday, March 20th.

Sally was born to Frank and Ruby Hill in Rule, Texas. She attended ACC and graduated from there with a BA in elementary education. After graduation Sally was in Germany where she taught the children of military families. She returned to Abilene after two years overseas and upon her return she met and married her husband Jim Bucherie. They decided to make Abilene their home and for 32 years she taught second grade at Bonham Elementary and for most of that time, Sally taught in the same room. Sally loved teaching children and made learning lots of fun. She loved to do crafts and had several other hobbies. Sally touched the lives of thousands of children during her teaching career. Sally and Jim were faithful members of the South 11th and Willis Church of Christ.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jim and her brother Frank Hill, Jr. Surviving Sally is a son, James W. Bucherie Jr. and wife Mary Eileen, a sister-in-law, Roz Mitchell, five grandchildren, Sarai Kearl and husband Chase, Bethany Warman and husband Brian, Danny J. Bucherie, Eric Squires and Scott Squires and wife Melissa and children as well as many other extended family members and close friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Mesa Springs and Hospice of Big Country for the compassionate care of Sally during these last difficult days.
