Dennis Dale Martin

January 16, 1957 — January 10, 2015

On January 10, 2015, Dennis Dale Martin, 57 of Abilene, went home to be with the Lord. Services to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, January 17 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street. A visitation with the family will be Friday, January 16 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dennis was born on January 16, 1957 in Seagraves, Texas to W.D. and Betty Martin. He spent many years working in the oilfield as an electrician . Dennis considered himself a simple man and enjoyed the simple things in life. His favorite thing of all was spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He loved being Pappy. He and his wife, Marti have enjoyed the last 12 years together, sharing their lives with family and friends. Dennis was a giving man and loved to help others. Even in death, Dennis continued to help others by being an organ donor.

He is survived by his wife Marti of Abilene; his parents W.D. Martin of Andrews and Betty Combs of Grand Saline; sons, Cliff Blackwell and wife Stephanie of Lindale, Benjamin Malone and wife Jerriann of Coahoma, and Travis Martin of Andrews; daughters Bonnie Malone and husband Ben of Merkel, and Kortney Martin of Andrews; brothers Tony Martin and wife Ronda of Andrews, and Rickey Combs of Alba; sister Carolyn McCullough of Andrews; eight grandchildren, Bo, Madison, Soumaya, Jaxson, Zayden, Elijiah, Ariannah and J'Nyah, nieces Carrie McCullough and Amanda Martin; three nephews, Jerry McCullough, Derek Martin and Trent Martin, along with several great nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Parker, Corey Sides, Kevin Wells, Bo Spurlock, Tony Martin and Jerry McCullough. Honorary pallbearers are Jaxson Blackwell and Zayden Abidi.

He is preceded in death by his step dad, Alfred Combs and his brother in law, Ray McCullough.

Dennis was loved by many and will be truly missed.
