Cora "Dolly" Harris

Cora Darlene "Dolly" Harris, 87, passed away at her home on November 26, 2014. Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday, November 29, 2014 in the chapel at Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street with a graveside service to follow at Elmwood Memorial Park. A visitation with the family will be on Friday, November 28, 2014 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dolly was born on June 16, 1927 to Carl and Nancy Kupke in Lincoln, Nebraska. On December 29, 1957, Dolly married Jackson Harris and in 1959, they moved to Abilene. Dolly spent her time raising her family and working for West Texas Wholesale and the Abilene Reporter News; she was a life-time member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Post 6873; was a mentor to many and volunteered for many of her children's organizational activities.

Dolly was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Nancy Kupke, her husband Jackson Harris, brother George Kupke and nephew Robert Anderson. She is survived by her children; son Stanley Brumett & wife Carol of Springville, CA; son Ronald Harris & wife Belinda of Abilene; daughter Jackie Edwards & husband Gary of Scottsdale, AZ; daughter Debra Harris of Manitou Springs, CO; son Jack Harris & wife Rhonda of San Antonio; and son Ray Orr & wife Debbie of Modesto, CA; her “honorary children” Karen Koepke, Niels Harris, David Gautney, Jeff Daniels, Lisa Daniels, Jeff Sinopoli, Danny & Julie Bryant, Angel & Shanna Lopez; her "dear friends" Mary Jordan, Pat Bauer, Trish James; and her precious dog Cuddles. She is also survived by 10 grand children, 8 great-grand children, 2 great nieces and a great nephew.
