Pat Elam

Pat Elam, 80, of Abilene, passed away Sunday October 26th at Hendrick Medical Center. A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Tuesday October 28th at Hillcrest Church of Christ Chapel in Abilene under the direction of Piersall Benton Funeral Directors. A second memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday October 30th at the Walnut Street Church of Christ in Texarkana.

Marion Patrick “Pat” Elam, Sr. was born on July 20th, 1928 to Joseph Patrick Elam and Juanita Marie Dickert Elam in Fouke, AR. He grew up in Texarkana but as a young man he found himself working at a department store in Amarillo, TX where he first met the love of his life Margie Le Powell. He said it was “Love at first sight”. They enjoyed 56 years together. As an interior designer for Sears and Robuck Co., Pat and his family lived in Chicago, IL and Philadelphia, PA but when retirement came, he and his wife moved back to Texarkana. In these three communities where they lived, Pat was honored to serve as an elder of the congregation they attended. Four years ago they moved to Abilene to be closer to their daughter and her family.

Pat will be greatly missed by his wife Margie; his Son, Rick Elam and wife Kathy of Philadelphia, PA and their children Ryan, Brett, and Madison; his daughter Lisa Flores and husband Hector of Abilene and their children Kimberly, Laura, Heather and Cianna; two sisters Cora Williams and Ginger Price and her husband Ralph all of Texarkana. He also leaves behind two special nephews and their families Dr. Patrick Williams and wife Amanda and their daughter Emma Katheryn and David Price and wife Sharon and their children Alisha, Joshua and Jeremy as well as a host of other family members and close friends.
