Richard Don Rodgers, 61, of Ranger passed away Thursday October 23rd at an Abilene Hospital. A visitation is scheduled for Sunday October 26th from 3-5 pm at Piersall Benton Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at Mitchell Cemetery, five miles southwest of Cisco, Texas. Lunch will be served following the service at Community Baptist Church, 747 North 21st St. in Abilene.
Don was born in Cisco, Texas on August 1st, 1947 to Richard Steven Rogers and Bessie Lee Hunt Rogers. He spent most of his life in West Texas towns making a living as a drywall / paint contractor. He loved old-time music, and was a guitar player and songwriter. Don loved his family and especially his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his wife Billie of Ranger; his daughter Leah Rogers and her children Krista, Karen, Sarah, and Hannah of Abilene; his Son, Ric Rogers and his children Richard, Brittany, and Jason of Abilene, one great grandchild Brylee; two sisters, Wanda Payne and husband Larry of Cisco, and Virginia Fulmer of Cisco; former wife, friend and mother of his children, Linda Royall, former mother in law Norma Royall Hambric, and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandson Daniel, and his former father-in-law Pastor Dan Royall.
