William (Bill) A. Jensen, 93 of Abilene, passed away at a local nursing home on October 16, 2014. A service is scheduled for 3:00 pm, Sunday October 19, 2014 at Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St, with a burial to be held Monday morning at 10:00 am in the Texas State Veteran Cemetery of Abilene. A visitation with the family will be held Saturday evening from 5-7 pm at the funeral home. Bill was born in Chester, New Hampshire to Bertha A. (Beckford) Jensen and Holger Jensen on August 28, 1921. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and most importantly a Christian.
He married Lois Cope on August 4th, 1946. They recently celebrated 68 wonderful years together. He was loved by his three children and their spouses: William Daryl Jensen and his wife, Sharron, Sheryl Lynne (Jensen) O’Neil and her husband, Bill, and Paul Curtis Jensen and his wife, Lenda.
He also was adored by his grandchildren: Will, Ben and Sam Jensen, Angela Wood and her husband, Kevin, Lauren Zutavern and her husband, Zach, L’nae Craig and her husband, Chace, Mendy Harrison and her husband Alex, and Ryder Jensen. His great grandchildren are Hannah and Aubree Wood; Colton, Logan and Rowyn Zutavern, and Lucy Craig.
He served his country in the Air Force during World War II serving with the 20th Air Force in the China/Burma/India area.
Bill was baptized into Christ in Manchester, New Hampshire in 1948. After moving to Florida, he served as an elder at Pinellas Park Church of Christ and then helped established the Seminole Church of Christ in Seminole, Florida. He was a member of the Oldham Lane Church of Christ in Abilene.
