Gayle Taylor

Gayle Taylor, 68 of Abilene, passed away at Hendrick Medical Center on Sunday October 12, 2014. The family will hold a memorial service at 2:00 pm on Tuesday October 14, 2014 at the "Chapel On the Hill" on the ACU campus. Arrangements are being handled by Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St.

Gayle was born to Oscar Ray and Fena Gladden in Abilene, Texas. She graduated from Merkel High School. She met the love of her life, Spencer Taylor, at the Braum's Drive in and married him on November 13th 1965 at the Merkel Church of Christ.

Gayle worked on the ACU campus from 1984 until 2004 as Executive Assistant to the dean of Students. Her love for the students and involvement in their lives endeared her to many students, faculty and staff at ACU.

Gayle was preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her husband Spencer, her mother Fena Gladden of Bayfield, Colorado, a son Shae Taylor, of Denton, Texas , a daughter Teena G. Taylor Gunter and husband, Allen of Oklahoma City, a brother, Doug Gladden and wife Mary, a sister Becki Pack and husband Roland. She is also survived by grandchildren, Joshua and Caleb Taylor and many other extended family members and close friends.
