Emma Ruth Goodman

August 3, 1926 — September 17, 2014

Emma Ruth Goodman, 88, of Abilene, passed away on September 17, 2014 at a local nursing home. A visitation with the family is scheduled for 2:00pm Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St with a service to follow at 3:00pm in the chapel of the funeral home. A graveside service will be held Monday at 9:00am in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Ruth was born August 3, 1926 in Bell County, Texas to Xenophen William and Rhoda Ella Morgan. Ruth grew up in Uvalde and graduated from high school in San Antonio. She graduated from Abilene Christian College with a BA in Education in 1946. She taught high school and college level business classes for over 40 years. Ruth taught in Coleman, and Denver City, TX as well as Aberdeen, Washington, where she retired from Grays Harbor College. Upon retiring in 1993 she moved to Florida where she enjoyed many friends and family. She moved to Abilene in 1999 to be closer to her family. Ruth attended church at Oldham Lane, University Church of Christ and was a member at Hillcrest Church of Christ. She had a great love of learning, which included reading books and listening to tapes.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Xenophen and Rhoda Ella Morgan, sister Jessie Winans, and brothers William Morgan, Ellmore Morgan and John Morgan. She is survived by sons Rodney Goodman and wife Laura of Abilene and Mark Goodman and wife Tammile of San Antonio, brother Dr. Clyde Morgan of Abilene and six grandchildren, Caleb Goodman of Denison, TX, Josh Goodman of Medford, OK, Karsten Goodman of Lubbock, TX, Micah Goodman of Edmond, OK, Katelyn and Kenzie Goodman of Abilene, TX. She is also survived my many nieces and nephews.
