Lee was born in Temple, Texas to Virgil G. (Bud) Money and Marian Whitlow Money on March the 11th, 1949. He was lovingly cared for at his home in Temple for 50 years by his mother and father. While there, he enjoyed attending a special school for a number of years and later an adult daycare workshop under the sponsorship of the Temple area Mental Health-Mental Retardation center. His parents, along with other parents of special needs children, were instrumental in establishing some of these programs. Throughout his lifetime Lee had a great love of music and in his earlier years enjoyed bowling as well as attending Western Hills Church of Christ with his parents. After the death of his mother in 2003, Lee moved to Abilene State School to be closer to his family. During that time he received the very best of care from the staff of the School.
Lee is survived by his brother Dr. Royce Money and wife Pam of Abilene; two nieces, Alison Elliott and husband Nino of Keller, Texas and Jennifer Crisp and husband Brad of Abilene, TX; two Aunts, Dortha Thompson and Eva Lee Money both of Temple. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Abilene State School for every kindness extended to Lee during his stay there. He was thoroughly cared for and loved in his final years. The family would request that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Family Association of the Abilene State School at 2501 Maple St., Abilene, TX 79602.
