Jack Ronald Alderton, Sr. of Abilene passed away Sunday August the 3rd at his home. Services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Wednesday August 6th at University Church of Christ with Dr. Eddie Sharp officiating. Burial will follow at Elliott-Hamil Cemetery Garden of Honor. A visitation will be held from 6-7:30 Tuesday evening at Piersall Benton Funeral Home, 733 Butternut St.
Jack Ronald Alderton, Sr. was born to Elmer Clyde Alderton and Wilma Louise Wentling Alderton in Cumberland, MD on June 6th, 1933. On September 19th, 1953 in Big Spring, Texas, he married the love of his life Totsy Lavelle Ingram and they enjoyed nearly 55 years together. They raised their two children in Big Spring and then in 1978 after a few brief stints in other West Texas towns they settled in Abilene.
Mr. Alderton had many accomplishments in his life. Jack honorably served our country in the United States Air Force, he owned and operated his own business, Property Damage Appraisers, he served his fellow Christians as an Elder at University Church of Christ for 20 years, and he lovingly gave of his time and energy to his family. Jack also enjoyed volunteering at the Christian Service Center, looking at airplanes at the Commemorative Airplane Museum, going to the mountains, and taking pictures of it all. He and Totsy enjoyed their weekly dinner with friends as founders of the original Grubb Club.
Jack is survived by his wife Totsy Alderton of Abilene, his children Jack Ronald Alderton, Jr. of Midland and Angelia Robison and husband Douglass of Midland; a sister-in-law, Mary Virginia Alderton of Frostburg, MD and grandchildren, Leslie Harris, Blake Alderton, Aaron Robison, and Leah Robison as well as 3 great grandchildren, 2 nephews and a niece. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother James Wentling Alderton.
