Michael Leonard Kapuscinski

Michael Leonard Kapuscinski, 60 of Abilene, passed away at a local hospital on Tuesday, March 25, 2014. A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 am, Friday, March 28, 2014 at Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories under the direction of Piersall-Benton Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street. A visitation with the family will be held Thursday evening from 6-8pm at the funeral home.

Mike was born February 20, 1954 in Osceola, Wisconsin to Diane and Leonard Kapuscinski. Much of Mike's early childhood was spent moving from base to base as the son of an Air Force Master Sergeant. After many years of moving together as a family they finally settled in Abilene, Texas where Mike graduated from Cooper High School in 1972. Immediately after high school Mike entered the Air Force and was honorably discharged.

Through the years Mike worked at many different jobs but in his later years he did one of the most important things of his life, he cared for his aging parents. Mike will always be remembered for his wit, his love of family, love of animals, and his unique outlook on life. No matter how difficult his illness got Mike always said " I'm blessed". Most importantly Mike was a Christian.

Preceding Mike in death were his parents and his wife Jamie Marshall Kapuscinski. He is survived by his brother Steve Kapuscinski of Abilene, sisters; Kim Davis and husband Scott and Renee Varela and husband Angel, as well as his nephew Allan Davis and his best friend Mike Curly who he considered a brother.
