Pastor George Hernandez, 60 of Abilene, passed away at Hendrick Medical Center on Monday, March 17, 2014. A service is scheduled for 2:00pm Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Piersall Funeral Directors Chapel, 733 Butternut St. A visitation with the family will be held from 6-7pm Wednesday evening with a time of remembrance to follow from 7-8pm.
Gregorio Hernandez was born on January 12, 1954 in Waco, Texas to Manuel and Francis Trinidad Hernandez. George moved to Abilene in 1972, and on November 4, 1985, married Lupe Estrada. George was the owner of Blue Ribbon Cleaning Service for 12 years and he also served his community as a Pastor of God's Word. George served as the Associate Pastor of Templo La Hermosa with Pastor Paul Hernandez for nine years and then as the Associate Pastor of Overflow Worship Center with Pastor David Gomez for nine years. At the time of his death, Pastor George lead the congregation at the Bread of Life Ministries.
George was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Lupe Hernandez of Abilene; son Eddie and his wife, Renee of Slayton, Texas; daughter Ellese Hernandez and her husband, Lee of Big Springs, Texas; grandson Nathaniel Lee Hernandez and granddaughters Sapphaire, Neveah and Nathalia Hernandez; five brothers and four sisters as well as many other extended family members and friends.
