Helen Maxine Northrup

Helen Maxine Northrup, 81, formerly of Tuscola passed away Wednesday, July 9th at a Fort Worth Hospital. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday July 12th at the Cedar Gap Cemetery by the Church of Christ under the direction of Piersall-Benton Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St.

Maxine was born October 15th, 1926 in Abilene, Texas to Clarence Snodgrass and Aline Saling Snodgrass. She grew up around Abilene where her father was a Church of Christ minister. Maxine married Horace Lee Northrup in Abilene on June 15th of 1946. They moved several times during their marriage but they always worked together with Maxine as the consummate waitress and Horace as the cook. They made a great team.

Maxine was involved with Westside Church of Christ in Tuscola and later in life, after her career as a waitress, she was a meal supervisor for Meals on Wheels. She loved serving others. Mrs. Northrup is survived by her children; Larry Evans and wife Betty of Spring, TX, David Northrup and wife Kay of Alpharetta, GA, Rhonda Noble of Granbury, TX, Lynda Northrup of Ponca City, OK and Janie Smith and husband Jerry of Ponca City, OK; a brother, 18 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother.
