Roberto Ortegon Torres

Roberto Ortegon Torres, 74 of Abilene, passed away at his home on March 4, 2014. A service is scheduled for 10:00 am Friday March 7th, 2014 at Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St with Rev. Paul Vasquez officiating. Burial will follow at the Abilene City Cemetery. A visitation will be held Thursday evening from 7-9pm at the funeral home.

Roberto was born on September 14, 1939 in Wise Township, Michigan to Gilberto and Aurora Ortegon Torres. He attended school in San Antonio and then went into the Air Force where he honorably served his Country for 6 Yrs. in APP Fire Protection, 2 of those Yrs. were in the Army and the other 4 Yrs were in the Air Force Reserve . On October 29, 1966 Roberto married his wife Thelma Cantu in San Antonio, Texas. Much of their married life was spent in Abilene where they raised their three boys and one daughter.

Surviving Roberto is his Mother Aurora, his Sons; Ralph Torres and wife Suzanna, Abel Torres and wife Tonya, Gilbert Torres and wife Christi, his Daughter; Melba Chavez, Grandchildren; Justin, Timothy, Emily Torres, Alexia Torres, John and Lauren Silva, Priscilla, Stephanie and Gilbert Torres, Xavier and Caesar Chavez, two great-grandchildren; Maddiesun Williams and Antoine Rashaw, Four brothers and Eight sisters, as well as many other extended family members and close friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, his father and a brother.
