Glen Wendle Cavitt passed away on March 3rd 2014 in Abilene, Texas. Glen was born on April 19, 1935 in Claytonville, Texas to Ira and Emma Cavitt. He graduated from Hobbs High School in Hobbs, Texas in 1954. He attended Howard Payne University and played football and was on the track team. He married Patsy Miers in 1956 and began his career with Eddins Walcher Company where he worked for forty years until his retirement. He lived in Seminole, Texas until he retired in Abilene, Texas.
Glen was very active in his church work. He loved the Lord and spent all of his life in ministry and service. He taught Sunday School in the Gaines County Jail in Seminole for 30 years and then expanded his ministry to the Kairos Prison Ministry. He also served on many Walk to Emmaus teams. Glen made many international mission trips including trips to Romania, Canada, Bolivia, Argentina, Spain, and Mexico. He ministered in many prisons in these countries. On one occasion, he drove a school bus to Beliz to donate to a church there. After moving to Abilene, he served in the Home Ministry at Broadview Baptist Church visiting and ministering to the homebound. His greatest pleasure was in serving God.
He is survived by his wife, Pat, of Abilene, Texas, and his sons, Wade and wife, Tami, of Hobbs, New Mexico, Rick and wife, Teresa, of Brownwood, Texas, and Shane and wife, Kim of Grand Prairie, Texas, his six grandchildren: Sheana Cavitt of Arlington, Virginia, Maggie and husband, Kosta Kokkinakis of Kansas City, Missouri, Canaan Cavitt of Houston, Texas, Jordan Cavitt of Brownwood, Texas, Austin Cavitt of Grand Praire, Texas, and Lucas Cavitt of Grand Prairie, Texas and his brother-in-law Bynum Miers and wife, Barbara of Abilene, Texas, and sister-in-law Cindy Hicks and husband, Gary, of Abilene, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Mission Fund at the Broadview Baptist Church in Abilene, Texas. Celebration Services will be on Thursday, March 6 at 2:00 p.m. at Broadview Baptist Church in Abilene, Texas under the direction of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St. Condolences may be offered to the family online at www.pbfuneraldirectors.com.
