Clyde Welton Irvin

July 22, 1932 — February 19, 2014

Clyde Welton Irvin, a long time resident of the Albany/Abilene area, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, February 19th at the age of 81. A family visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. followed by a celebration of his life in worship at 11:00 a.m. at the Hillcrest Church of Christ, 650 East Ambler Avenue on Monday, February 24, 2014. Interment will follow at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene at 12:00 p.m.

Born to Benjamin Clyde “Tom” Irvin and Eva Gladys Jackson Irvin July 22, 1932 in Rochelle, Texas, Clyde attended both Brady High School and Angelo State University. Following Army service during the Korean Conflict, Clyde met and married Mona Jeanene Smith, his life-long love. Clyde was utterly devoted to their children, Brently and Debbie, and his six grandchildren. Clyde and his family were faithful members of the Albany Church of Christ where Clyde continued his devotion to Christ, serving as a Deacon. Clyde’s work as a Safety Inspector for the Texas Railroad Commission earned the respect, friendship and admiration of his co-workers.

Clyde was preceded in death by his mother and father and a brother, Malcom Irvin. Clyde is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jeanene, a son, Brently and wife Tracy of Abilene, a daughter, Debbie Beasley and husband Charles of Canton, Texas, a sister, Janita Woodall and husband Jerry of San Antonio, a cousin, Marie Carlisle of Abilene, and grandchildren Jacob Franklin, Grant Franklin and Piper Beasley of Canton, Texas and granddaughters Lauren Irvin, Ellen Irvin and Kathryn Irvin of Abilene, plus other sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews.

The family requests donations be made in lieu of flowers to the American Cancer Society - Lymphoma Research and to the Alzheimer's Association for Research. Condolences may be offered to the family online at www.pbfuneraldirectors.com.
