Joyce Bond

March 16, 1941 — February 7, 2014

Joyce Bond, 72 of Abilene, passed away Friday, February 7, 2014 at a local care center. A memorial service will be held at 10:00am Wednesday, February 12, 2014 in the Piersall Funeral Directors Chapel, 733 Butternut St.

Joyce was born to Grady and Hazel Byars White in Colorado City, Texas on March 16, 1941. She was raised on a farm outside of Dunn, Texas and graduated from high school in Colorado City. Joyce moved to Abilene in the early 60's. She worked for Hendrick Medical Center as an Administrative Secretary for over 39 years. Because of her connection with Hendrick, Joyce was a consistent donor of blood at the Meek Community Blood Bank.

Family was very important to Joyce and she loved cooking and caring for her daughter and other extended family. Joyce could often be found walking around Redbud Park or working in her yard tending all the plants that she enjoyed raising. As her family grew and the grand kids came, she enjoyed supporting them by attending their sporting events and loved spending time with them.

Preceding Joyce in death were her parents and siblings, Bob White, Elouise Roemisch, Foy "Butch" White and Gwendolyn White. She is survived by her daughter Kendra Gruben, a brother Andrew White and wife Doris, a sister Ellen Campbell, grandchildren; Shayla Ely, Dakota Gruben and Patrick Ely, two great-granddaughters as well as many other extended family members and close friends.
