Earl L. Redman, Sr.

December 19, 1929 — December 23, 2013

Earl Leroy Redman, Sr., 84 of Abilene, passed away at Hendrick Medical Center on Monday December, 23, 2013. A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Saturday, December 28th at Elmwood West United Methodist Church, 1302 S. Pioneer Drive under the direction of Piersall Funeral Directors.

Earl Redman was born in Lorain, OH on December 19, 1929 to Willard and Leona Pfahl Redman. He was raised in Lorain, where he graduated from high school and went on to enter the Naval Reserve for a brief stint before transferring the Air Force. While stationed in Waco, TX he met the love of his life, Esther, who was also in the Air Force at the time. After their time in the Air Force Earl began his love for electronics, working for Bates TV and later for the Federal Aviation Administration as a Radar Technician. In 1966, he and Esther and their four sons moved to Abilene.

After retiring from the FAA Earl continued working on electronics. He could fix anything! He was a local business owner with a repair shop that morphed from TV, CB, to a VCR (and everything else) repair shop. He was an active member of the Elmwood West United Methodist Church and a true servant at heart. He participated in Mexico mission trips as well as local missions- serving regularly at the food pantry and the EWUMC fair booth. Earl was a man of integrity and a hard worker who made an impact on his family and the people he came into contact with. He will be greatly missed.

Surviving Earl are his wife Esther, sons; Dennis and wife Leslie of Dallas, Mike and wife Pam of Abilene and Tony and wife Kathy of Abilene, daughter-in-law Becky Redman of Abilene, grandchildren; Chris, Bryan, Mandy, Matt and Jennifer, eight great-grandchildren as well as many extended family members and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Earl Redman, Jr. and a sister, Lucille Smith.

The family requests that donations be made in honor of Earl to Elmwood West United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 1302 S. Pioneer Dr. Abilene, TX 79605. Condolences may be offered to the family online at www.pbfuneraldirectors.com.
