Charles Alton Middleton, 90 went Home to the Lord on November 25, 2013. The memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St., Abilene, TX.
He was born on November 18, 1923 in Nugent, Texas to John and Lena (Moorehead) Middleton. He grew up on the family farm in Nugent, graduating from Leuders High School. He continued working on the farm under a deferment until enlisting in the Army in 1944. He was trained at Camp Barkeley and served as an ambulance driver in Hawaii. After his discharge from the Army, he lived his life in Abilene working as a truck mechanic, spending many years with Borden Dairies.
In 1979, he married Bonnie Walthall, this being their first and only marriage. They lived a loving, quiet life together until Bonnie's death in 2007.
Alton was a longtime member of Woodlawn Church of Christ, where he was involved with serving communion and Monday Night for the Master.
He was an avid Dallas Cowboys Fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Bonnie, two younger sisters, Zona Bell Winn and Louise Crawford, a younger brother JT Middleton and a nephew Johnny Winn.
He is survived by an older sister, Allene Scott of Keller, TX, a sister-in-law, Mary Middleton of Abilene, TX, nephews Ron Crawford, Dale Crawford, James Scott, and Bob Winn, nieces Shirley Hall, Pat Prescott, Xan Holub and Jill Casey, numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
