Gerry was born on July 18, 1945 in Big Spring, Texas to Marvin Aubrey "Army" Armstrong and Leona Meyer Armstrong. He was reared in Odessa, Texas and graduated from Odessa High school. He went on to attend West Texas State University earning a BBA and ultimately received his MBA in Management from Hardin Simmons University. On March 17, 1973 Gerry was married to Virginia Crounse in Canyon , Texas. They were active members of Abilene Bible Church. Gerry was a deeply religious man who served as Chairman of the Pastor’s Council, on the Elders Board of Directors, the church administration as well as V.P. of the Blackstone Institute. Gerry was a much loved man of God who loved Jesus and had great influence in the lives of those he touched in his profession and most especially his wife, Virginia, of nearly 41 years. There were many times at church that Virginia could be found playing the piano while Gerry was across from her playing the organ. Gerry truly had a love of music and a gift for playing the organ. He enjoyed sharing that gift with others.

Surviving Gerry is his wife Virginia, several cousins and a host of close friends that he and Virginia developed through the years at work and at church. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family requests that donations be made in honor of Gerry to Blackstone Institute, 2438 Industrial Blvd., Abilene, TX 79605.
