Jean was born February 22, 1924 to Ben and Bernice Herring in Santa Anna, Texas. She attended school in Santa Anna and in school was an accomplished tennis player. After high school, Jean went on to attend Sul Ross State University. When WWII broke out she married Dany Dot Bryan in New Groton, Connecticut where Dany was stationed. In 1949, they moved to Abilene where she lived for the remainder of her life. Surviving Jean are her sons Mike Bryan and wife Carole, Ronnie Bryan and Pam Bryan, a sister-in-law Sylvia Herring, and grandchildren, Lori Bryan, Holly Bryan, Matt Bryan, Mark Bryan and Michelle Perry who all lovingly referred to Jean as “Granny Bryan”. In addition, she is survived by 7 great-grandchildren as well as a host of extended family members and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands and two brothers, Casey and Snow Herring.
