Wade Carter Walden

December 20, 1927 — October 22, 2013

Wade Carter Walden, 85 of Abilene, passed away at a local hospital on Tuesday, October 22, 2013. A memorial service is scheduled for 1:00 pm Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Broadview Baptist Church with David Cason, Wes Terry, and Randy Roy officiating. A visitation will be held following the service. Arrangements were through Piersall Benton Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St.

Wade was born in Bradshaw, Texas to Amos Walden and Bess Carter on December 20, 1927. Wade attended Wylie High School before joining the Navy. An Abilene resident for over 65 years, Wade worked as a self-employed building contractor. He was an avid fisherman and loved spending time in his garden.

Surviving Wade are his wife of 55 years, Dortha Standifer Walden, his son J.C., daughter Jenna Moore and her husband Jim, brother Ducky Walden and wife Dorothy, sister Laurie Ince and husband Zurl and two grandchildren, Michael James Moore and Brady Carl Moore as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Michael Wayne Walden and a sister, Juarie Aldridge.

The family requests that donations be made in lieu of flowers to Broadview Baptist Church, Hospice of the Big Country or Rescue the Animals. Condolences can be offered to the family online at www.pbfuneraldirectors.com.
