Iris Gayle Bynum, 64 of Abilene, passed away at a local hospital on Saturday, October 19, 2013. A service is scheduled for 10:00 am Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at New Beginnings UPC with a burial to follow in Plainview, TX at 4:00 pm. A visitation is scheduled from 6:00-8:00 pm, Tuesday evening at Piersall Benton Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.
Gayle was born in Plainview, Texas to Ernest Ray Ferguson and Viola Mary DeBusk Ferguson on March 3, 1949. She was raised in Plainview and graduated from high school there. Gayle went on to become an LVN and over the years worked at several care facilities. In 1977, Gayle and her family moved to Abilene so they could take her daughter April to the West Texas Rehab. For a number of years Gayle worked for Billy King at Mail Processing Services. She was a member of the New Beginnings UPC and a faithful believer.
Surviving Gayle are her son, Bronco and wife Melissa, daughters; Tamara Simmons and Kana Thomason and her husband Steven, a brother, James Ray Ferguson and his wife Teresa, two sisters; Violet Borron and husband Phil and Wanda Spradling and husband Glenn as well as 9 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Buddy Bynum, a daughter, April Bynum and two great grandchildren; Starlynn Gibson and Miley Chea' Goebel.
