Ronnie Lorenz

September 6, 1946 — August 19, 2013

Ronnie D. Lorenz was born on September 6, 1946 in Electra, Texas, and left this earth for his heavenly home on August 19, 2013. A Celebration of Life honoring Ronnie will be held on Saturday, August 24th at 2:00 pm at Highland Church of Christ at 425 Highland Avenue, Abilene, Texas, with a reception immediately following in the church atrium. In honor of Ronnie, the family requests you attend in casual golf attire if you wish.

He leaves to cherish his memory his father, Marvin Lorenz, the love of his life and wife of 47 years, Darla Nash Lorenz, his daughters Robyn Wertheim and husband Paul, Brooke Nichols and husband Brady, and his grandchildren Christopher Paul Wertheim of College Station, Conner Nichols, Lauren Wertheim and Allie Nichols all of Abilene. He is also survived by his sister Glenda Marshall and husband Lee, mother-in-law Doris Graham and husband Charles, father-in-law Burl Nash and wife Wanda and beloved sister-in-law Scottye Bourland and husband Jay. In addition, he is survived by a nephew and nieces, great nephews and niece, a loving church family at Highland Church of Christ, wonderful neighbors, golf buddies and a host of friends. Ronnie was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Dillard Lorenz.

As someone who focused on people, Ronnie loved spending time with grandkids at the football field, baseball field, tennis courts and soccer complexes as well as at church. He enjoyed playing golf, working in his yard and participating in church ministries. Ronnie was active in the community in many ways and over the years served on numerous committees and boards including Disability Resources Incorporated (DRI), Christian Homes of Abilene, LaJet Classic, Diamondback Charity Classic, Greater Abilene Kiwanis Club and Abilene Country Club. He also served as a deacon, elder and ministry leader at Highland Church of Christ.

Ronnie's family would like to thank Dr. Steven Brown, Dr. Matt Cope, Dr. G. Toby Williams, David Hale and the CCU Staff, Hendrick Hospice, local churches and our numerous family friends for the many acts of kindness shown to us during his brief illness. The food, kind words, visits and prayers were very much appreciated.
