Sarah “Virginia” (Nicolds) Kennedy, 81 of Abilene, passed away at her home on May 31, 2013. A memorial service will be held in Spokane, Washington at the Northside Church of Christ on June 22, 2013 at 10:00 am.
Virginia was born in Moriarty, NM to Edward Nicolds and Sarah Buckner Nicolds. She was raised in Moriarty, where she graduated from high school in 1949. She met Joseph Earl Kennedy in 1953 and they married on October 3, 1953 in Albuquerque, NM.
Being an active member of church was a priority of Virginia’s wherever she lived. Since moving to Abilene in 2006 she had been a member of Minter Lane Church of Christ.
Surviving Virginia are her three daughters Carolyn and Caren Nicolds of Spokane, WA and Candace Nicolds of Abilene, TX; four brothers: Edward Nicolds and wife Lillian of Albuquerque, NM, Hollis Nicolds and wife Patsy of Willcox, AZ, Richard Nicolds and wife Alberta of Luna, NM, and Horace Nicolds and wife Mary of Katy, TX, three grandchildren: Jennifer Dokken and husband Chad of Spokane, WA, Rachel Schell and fiancé Young Kwak of Spokane, WA and Gordon Bursell of Spokane, WA, as well as five great-grandchildren and many other extended family members and close friends. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a daughter Catherine Kennedy Kaczor, and granddaughter Karine Bursell.
