Patsy Mae Dennis

July 17, 1930 — May 5, 2013

Patsy Mae Lail Dennis went to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ on Sunday, May 5th, 2013, following a 13 month battle with cancer.
Visitation is from 6:00 until 8:00 pm, Friday, May 10, 2013 at Piersall Benton Funeral Home, 733 Butternut St, in Abilene, TX. Her funeral service will be Saturday at 1:30pm in the First Baptist Church Chapel of Abilene with Palmer McCown officiating. Burial service will be Monday, May 13, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Texas State Veteran Cemetery in Abilene.

Patsy was affectionately known as "P.D." to friends and "Jama" by her grandchildren. Patsy was born July 17, 1930 in Nicoma Park, Oklahoma. Her parents we Jim and Gwen Lail. She graduated from Jacksboro High School and attended Mary Hardin Baylor College and NTSU.

She married Rogers L. Dennis of Jacksboro, Texas, in 1949. Patsy and Rogers moved to Abilene in 1954 and started Dennis Communications Center.

Patsy and Rogers raised five children on their beloved Fulton Street. Patsy enjoyed clothing design, sewing, playing the piano, singing, poetry, and art. She had a loving heart for children and people that needed love. Her Christian Walk, which began at an early age, inspired those that knew her.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Rogers L. Dennis, 5 children, 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Children are: Roger E. Dennis, Mary Cannon and husband Lynn, Robin M. Dennis, Sherry Weeks and husband Rodney, and Kate (Forrest) Adams. Grandchildren are Kimberly Cannon Villegas and husband Michael, Katie Moore-Weeks, Dennis Adams, Clara Moore, Michael Moore, Jenny Moore and Eva Moore. She has one great-grandchild, Gabriela Grace Villegas, who Patsy met the day before her passing.

She is also survived by a brother, Jim Lail and his wife Maxine of Dallas, and a sister, Ruth Glaze and her husband Henry of Jackson, Mississippi, Brother-in-law, James Dennis and wife Carlene of Ft. Worth, and a Sister-in-law, Libby Ledbetter and husband Jerre of Rockport, TX. In addition, Patsy is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Patsy in death were her parents, a brother, Bob Lail and a sister Jean Bradley.
