Richard Gonzales Sr.

Richard Gonzales Sr., 42, of Abilene, passed away at a local medical center, on March 11, 2013. There will be a visitation on March 15, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Piersall Benton Funeral Home ,733 Butternut Street with a service on March 16 at 1:00pm in the Piersall Chapel. A private family burial will follow at a future time.

Richard was born to Madaleno Gonzales and Yolanda Perez Gonzales on August 16, 1970 in Abilene, Texas. Richard called himself “one of a kind” and he had a zest for life like no other. He lived on the edge and never met a stranger. He left a strong and loving impression on everyone he met. Richard loved his family and extended family with all his heart. He never left without giving a huge hug and kiss.

Richard is survived by his mother Yolanda Zuniga, partner Peggy Rodriguez and his son Richard Gonzales Jr. and wife Tiffany. Other survivors are a stepdaughter Yesenia Ponce, a brother Gabriel Zuniga and wife Angelica, his sisters Leticia Gonzales-Cano and husband Ricardo, Yolanda Marie Gonzales, and Terri Ann Zuniga-Chatham and husband Brannon and a grandson Javen Michael Gonzales. He also leaves behind 11 nieces and nephews and 8 great nieces and nephews, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly. Many of whom he called family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
