Lynda Schoonmaker

Lynda Schoonmaker, 68, died at an Abilene Hospital Wednesday February 27th, 2008. A memorial service will be held at the Piersall Benton Funeral Directors Chapel, 733 Butternut St, at 2:00 pm Friday, February 29th with Jerry Parrish officiating.


Lynda was born on October 23, 1939 in Beaumont, TX to Edward and Laverne Massengill. She grew up in Beaumont but graduated from Abilene Christian High School. In 1993 she moved to Abilene to be closer to her family. She was a member of Highland Church of Christ. Lynda worked as an administrative assistant, but the position she valued most was that of mother and grandmother.


Lynda was preceded in death by her parents and a son Bartlett Thomas Schoonmaker. She is survived by her children and their families; Brad, Cindy, Houston, Travis, Jackson and Austin Schoonmaker of Abilene, Kevin, Patricia, Christopher, Lauren, and Kevin, Jr. Schoonmaker of California/Texas, Michele Schoonmaker of Fort Worth, and Charisse, Andy, Zach, Zane, Zeth, and Zion Burton of Abilene. Lynda is also survived by her brother Ron Massengill and wife Carolyn of Atlanta, GA, and sister Suellen Parrish and husband Jerry of Lubbock, TX.
