Fred Peters Bryan, 71, passed away on Monday afternoon, January 21, 2013 at a local nursing home in Abilene, Texas following a short illness.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 25, 2013 at Piersall Benton Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St., Abilene, TX with Ross Strader, his nephew, officiating. A viewing and visitation will be held at the funeral home following the service.
Fred was a quiet, sweet, kind, long-suffering, loyal friend and brother who was dearly loved and will be missed by those who knew him. He was born on September 29, 1941 to Mary and Edwin Bryan in Abilene, TX. He attended schools in Abilene, South Carolina and New York. He was married for 35 years to Janene Bohanon Bryan who preceded him in death in March of 2000. He was also preceded in death by his parents and beloved dogs.
Fred loved nature, photography and the theater. He was the owner of Cardinal Camera Services repairing cameras in the Abilene and surrounding areas for many years. He was an avid fan of John Wayne movies and his hobbies included bird watching and fishing. He was a member of the West Texas Photography Association and had been active in Abilene Community Theater for years. He was a member of the Abilene Bible Church all of his life and knew Jesus Christ as his personal savior.
Survivors include siblings Dr. Jerry Bryan (Valerie) of Houston, TX; David Bryan; Mary Sullivan (Scotty); Martha Rau and John Bryan, all of Abilene, TX. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Fred's nephews.
