Johnny Bob Turner, 79, of Knox City, passed away in Abilene, January 9, 2013 at a local medical center. A memorial service will be held at the Piersall Benton Funeral Chapel, 733 Butternut Street on Tuesday, January 15, at 11am.
Johnny Bob was born in Abilene but was reared in Coahoma, Texas where he attended school, married and raised a family. He played football for a year at Texas Tech University. Johnny worked in the oil field most of his life and spent his retirement years in Coleman and Benjamin, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.K. Turner Sr., a son, Brad Turner, a great grandchild, Carlissa E. Desduness and three brother and five sisters. Johnny is survived by a daughter, Mary Jon who resides in Baton Rouge LA a grandchild, Jessica Marie Turner, two brothers, James and Bill Turner and one sister, Mary Jo (Turner) Stoker.
