Max Caleb King, D.D.S., 82, of Abilene, passed away at a local medical center on November 27, 2012. A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Friday, November 30, 2012 at the University Church of Christ with a time of visitation to follow.
Max was born on April 24, 1930 to James and Clara McCaleb King in Jones County Texas. He graduated from Anson High School in 1948 and then from Abilene Christian College in 1952. Max received his D.D.S. from The University of Texas, Dental Branch, Houston.
Dr. King served his country in both the Navy and Army and retired as a Colonel, USAR. Dr. King was in private dental practice in Abilene and was a member of the American and Texas Dental Associations. He was a member of the University Church of Christ and the Kiwanis Club, and contributed his time to the Christian Service Center and Christian Homes.
Preceding Max in death are his mother and father and a brother, Dale King. Max is survived by his wife Diane of Abilene, his sons, David and wife Ellen of Crozet, Virginia and Robert and wife Vicki of Charlottesville, Virginia. In addition, Max is survived by six grandchildren; Carrington King and wife Corie, Stuart King and wife Ali, James King and wife Kelly, Caleb King, Emily King and Benjamin King, all of Virginia; four great grandchildren, a brother Dwade King and wife Barbara of Anson, two sisters-in-law, Wilma Ruth King of Abilene, and Esme Glenn of Abilene, and numerous nieces and nephews. Max will be greatly missed by his family and a host of friends.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hendrick Hospice for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christian Service Center, Abilene. Piersall Benton Funeral Directors (www.pbfuneraldirectors.com), Abilene, Texas, is handling the arrangements.
