Buell Dean Belcher

November 2, 1935 — October 16, 2012

Buell Dean Belcher, 76 of Abilene, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at a local medical center. A service honoring his life is scheduled for 10:00 am Friday morning at Broadview Baptist Church under the direction of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St. A burial with full military honors will be held at the Texas State Veteran Cemetery of Abilene following the service. Visitation with the family is Thursday evening from 5-7 pm at the funeral home.

Buell Dean Belcher was born November 2, 1935 in Bowling Green, Kentucky to Coy and Earlene Belcher. Before graduating high school he joined the Air Force where he spent 26 years honorably serving his country in the Korean War, Vietnam War and as a C130 Flight Engineer traveling all over the world. During his time serving in Florida he met and married the love of his life Janet Barksdale.

After retiring from the Air Force Buell owned “Good Stuff” in Anson, "Video Time" store on Grape Street which fulfilled his lifelong love of movies, he owned a construction and insulation company but most importantly he spent time with his family. Buell was a handyman and enjoyed coaching others in home repairs and improvement. Buell was a faithful member of Broadview Baptist Church and enjoyed serving others as a Meals on Wheels driver.

Surviving Buell is his wife Janet, three daughters; Wanda Haley of Abilene, Cindy Belcher and husband Steve Petito of Littleton, CO and Jill George and husband Steve of Albany, TX, six grandchildren; Rachel (Brad) Hubbard, Amy (Mina) Delgado, Katie (Bo) Kilpatrick, Ben (Erin) Wood, Brittney (Chad) Keesee, and Tyler George, 10 great grandchildren, a brother Euell Belcher of Cabot, AR and a host of extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, James William Belcher, a son-in-law, Kevin Haley and a great-grandchild, Madeline Hubbard.
