David B. Hall

October 12, 1930 — September 23, 2012

David B. Hall, 81, passed away at a local medical facility on September 23rd, 2012. A service is scheduled for 10:30 am Friday, September 28, 2012 at Potosi Baptist Church with Pastor Keith Clifton officiating. The burial will follow at Potosi Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Piersall Benton Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St. from 6-8 pm on Thursday September 27th, 2012.

David was born to Ruben and Jesse Hall on October 12, 1930. He was married to Helen Joyce Tiner on October 22, 1949 in Snyder, Texas. Together they had five sons all of whom possess many talents. Mr. Hall worked 30 years for Midwest Outdoor Advertising Company. For the next 20 years he worked for maintenance for the Taylor County Courthouse and First State bank. He enjoyed volunteer work, giving 30 years to the West Texas Fair, and several years forming and coaching young boys baseball team (Potosi Tigers). He was one of the earliest members of the Potosi Water Board.

David loved to study and teach the Bible. He taught many Sunday school classes and was a deacon in the church since 1959. The Royal Ambassador program for young boys at the Potosi Baptist Church was formed under his guidance and leadership.

Mr. Hall had a true zest for life. He and Helen married young, sharing interests and love for each other that never waned. As each son was born, they were taught to do the things he loved: outdoors, fishing, traveling, gardening, swimming. These were always part of the family’s activities.

The entry of the son's wives brought something Dave never had: Daughters. He always said he thought of them as daughters, not daughters in law. As the family grew with grandchildren and great-grandchildren Dave's ability to communicate with children was obvious. They all loved their "grandpa".

Dave loved music. Music was always playing around him whether radio, recordings or him playing his harmonica. Friends and family knew Dave was around because his whistling was easily recognized and always present.

Dave carried in his wallet the evidence of his two greatest loves. One being pictures of his precious wife Helen, the other this scripture: Psalm 27 a Psalm of David along with his handwritten goal in life.

David was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of almost 60 years, Helen, a sister Jimmie, a brother Burt and grandson Jesse Hall. He is survived by five sons; David B. Hall and Dana, Stephen B.Hall, and wife Rebecca, Paul A. Hall and wife Deven, Mark O. Hall and Delisa, and Phillip W. Hall and wife Nancy, Grandchildren: Bryce, Raine, Cory, Kimberley, Zachary, Logan, Aaron, Lexi, Clayton, Christopher and Amanda, Three great grandchildren; Callie Hall, Aleese Palmer and Caydence Hall and two sisters Ruby, Wanda and a brother Ray, as well as many extended family members and close friends.
