Don was born May 7, 1937 in Sweetwater, Texas to Odis and Inez Wafer. He graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1955 and attended Texas Tech University, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering on Aug. 26, 1961.
He married Martha (Maw Maw) June Barton June 12, 1957.
He was employed by J.R. Ray Roustabout Gang in Sweetwater from 1954 to 1955, Shell Oil Company in Monahans from 1956 to 1957, Skelly Oil Company in Sweetwater/Midland from 1960 to 1968, Stephens Engineering Consultants in Wichita Falls from 1968 to 1973, General Crude in Snyder from 1973 to 1977 and Van Operating Ltd in Albany from 1977 to the present.
His hobbies were his family, animals, American History, music and reading. He was an avid golfer.
Survivors include his wife, Martha of the home; two daughters, Rebecca (Becky) Lynn Vickery of Abilene and Lori Dianne Schulze and husband Ron Eugene of Odessa; one grandson, Jacob Keith Hardegree of Fort Worth; two granddaughters, Marilyn Mackenzie Lewis of Odessa and Haley Dianne Lewis of Lubbock; and Sister and Baby Wafer, Chihuahuas of Albany.
The Wafer family would like to thank Van Operating LTD for all of their love and support and Baylor Medical Bone Marrow/Cancer Center in Dallas for giving us three more years with our husband, father and Nendy.
