Jo E. Lipford

Jo Evelyn Lipford, 79, died Monday September 10, 2007 in Abilene. She was born November 30, 1927 in Fort Worth to W. C., Sr. and Mabel Lipford. Jo graduated from Polytechnic High School in Fort Worth in 1944 and attended Abilene Christian College. She was an administrator for two heart surgeons in San Francisco, CA from 1962 until 1988 at which time she retired to Fort Worth. She lived in Fort Worth until November of 2006. At that time she moved to Abilene to be near her family. Jo was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, W.C. “Sonny” Lipford.

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Jeannette Lipford of Abilene; three nieces – Susan Lipford of Abilene, Cindy Hudson of Nashville, TN and Amy Wright and her husband, Tommy, of Round Rock, TX; four great-nephews, Aaron and Zack Hudson of Nashville, TN; Parker Haynes of Los Angeles, CA; and Boone Haynes of Round Rock; one great-niece, Marnie Kate Hudson of Nashville, TN and one great-great niece, Kyelee Hudson.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 12th, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of University Church of Christ, 733 EN 16th St., Abilene, with Eddie Sharp officiating. Services are under the direction of Piersall-Benton Funeral Directors. Memorials may be made to the Harold and Jeannette Lipford Music Theater Scholarship fund at Abilene Christian University or to Hendrick Hospice, 1682 Hickory St, Abilene 79601. The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of The Oaks at Radford Hills, Southern Meadows, and Hendrick Hospice for their kind and loving care to Jo and her family.
