Christine Glass

Christine Glass, 68 of Abilene, passed away January 8, 2012 at Hendrick Medical Center. Services are scheduled for 11:00 am Thursday January 12th at Woodlawn Church of Christ with Mike Bailey officiating, under the direction of Piersall Benton Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St. A visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 5-7pm at the funeral home.

Alice Christine Glass was born December 31, 1943 in Lakeview, Oregon to Calvin and Mary Lorene Minor. She moved to Texas at a young age and spent most of her early life near Hermleigh. She married her high school sweetheart, Larry Calvert and together they had three children. After Larry died in an oil field accident Christine moved to Abilene to raise her young children. After a few years of living in Abilene, Christine met and married Robert "Tiny" Glass who was not only a wonderful partner for Christine but a great Step-dad for her children. Christine was an active member of Woodlawn Church of Christ and a wonderful Christian lady who truly enjoyed spending time studying the Bible. She was a great cook and enjoyed baking for her family.


Surviving Christine are her daughters Sherry Carrion and husband Rey of Merkel and Judy Whittington of Salina, Kansas, a brother Clifford Minor and wife Venita of Abilene, seven grandchildren; Joe, Justin, Jodi, Brandi, Brittany, Marica and Erika as well as 17 great-grandchildren and many other family and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Larry Calvert, and her second husband, Tiny Glass, a son, Ricky Calvert, a sister, Pauline Minor, and three brothers, Charles, Harold and Dwight Minor.
