Richard Sikes went to be with the Lord Friday evening November 18th at his residence in Abilene, Texas. A celebration of his life is scheduled for 10:00 am Tuesday November 22, 2011 in the First Baptist Church Sanctuary, 1333 North 3rd Street, under the direction of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St. A visitation with the family will be held Monday from 5:30-7:00 pm at the First Baptist Church Welcome Center.
Richard was born August 9, 1943 at Shannon Hospital in San Angelo, Texas to L.B.T. and Geraldine Sikes. He married Linda Moore in Gainesville, Texas September 11, 1965. Richard served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He graduated from Angelo State University with his BBA, MBA, and MPA. He was a finance director for San Angelo Independent School District and then Business Manager for Iraan-Sheffield Independent School District.
Richard was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, and he was also a member of the Greater Kiwanis Club of Abilene.
Surviving Richard is his wife Linda of Abilene, a daughter Elizabeth Miller and her husband Aaron of Abilene; one granddaughter, Natalie Miller; a sister, Betsy Sikes of Pecos and his mother Geraldine Sikes of San Angelo. Preceding him in death was his father L.B.T. Sikes and a brother David Sikes.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of the Big Country (4601 Hartford St 79605) or First Baptist Church. Condolences may be offered to the family online at www.pbfuneraldirectors.com.
