Dortha Faye Greenlee

Dortha Faye Greenlee, 77 of Abilene, passed away at her home on October 12, 2011. A service is scheduled for 10:00 am Saturday October 15, 2011 at the Oldham Lane Church of Christ under the direction of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St. A burial will be held at 2:30 pm in the Wayland Cemetery in Stephens County after the service. Visitation with the family will be Friday evening from 5:00-6:30 pm at the funeral home.

Dortha Faye McElroy Greenlee was born on May 5, 1934 to Lester and Ella Jane McElroy in Breckenridge, Texas. She was raised in Breckenridge and at the age of fifteen she married the love of her life, Charles Greenlee. They moved to Abilene in 1952. She stayed at home with her children until their youngest son began first grade At that time she went to work at Abilene Christian University and worked there 17 years. During that time, she took courses at ACU and completed a Bachelor’s degree in history. She graduated in 1987 along with her youngest son. After graduation, she was a substitute teacher in the Abilene ISD.

Surviving Dortha is her husband Charles, her three sons; Bob Greenlee and wife Cecilia, Ed Greenlee and wife Evy, and John Greenlee and wife Maryann, her daughter, Deborah Dannheim and husband Wayne, and ten grandchildren; Sarah Harris (Brent), Zach Greenlee (Molly), Lauren Morgan (Matthew), Andrea, Kristen, Amanda, Victoria, and Rachael Greenlee, Kate Pamplin (Daniel) and Jonathan Dannheim as well as 3 great grandchildren and many extended family members and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and three sisters.
