Cheryl Lang

April 11, 1955 — July 19, 2011

Cheryl Ann Lang, 56 of Abilene, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at her home. A celebration of her life is scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, July 23, 2011 at the Piersall Benton Chapel, 733 Butternut St. A visitation will be held Friday evening from 5-7 pm at the funeral home.

Cheryl was born April 11, 1955 in Gainesville, TX to Paul and Jeanne Lang. She grew up in Abilene and Odessa and graduated from Odessa Permian High School. After graduation Cheryl went to Odessa College and received an associate's degree to help her become a medical lab technician. Over the years she worked at several different hospitals, most recently at Hendrick Medical Center. She truly enjoyed her job and loved working at Hendrick.

When she wasn't working Cheryl loved to travel with her friends to places like Alaska, Ireland, and Niagara Falls. Cheryl was a member of Highland Church of Christ. She served the special needs ministry as well as the children's ministry as a teacher and helper. One of the greatest blessings of Cheryl's life was getting to open her heart and home to Josh and T.J. Hunt who became like her own children.

Surviving Cheryl are Josh and T.J. Hunt, parents Paul and Jeanne Lang of Lewisville, sister, Kerri Lang of Dallas, brothers, Jonathan Lang and wife Randa of Lubbock and David Lang and wife Stephanie of Abilene as well as an aunt and uncle, Martha and R.H. Risser of Gainesville. In addition, Cheryl will be greatly missed by her many nieces, nephews, extended family members and close friends.
