James Malcolm Proctor, 52, died peacefully at his home in Abilene on June 7th 2007. James was born to J. David Proctor and Bernice Herring Proctor in Abilene on November the 12th, 1954. He lived in Abilene most of his life and grew up in the First Baptist Church. He married his high school sweetheart, Janie Johnson on August 2, 1975 in Abilene and they enjoyed 31 years together. James was a CPA and spent the majority of his career working in the Oil and Gas industry as a controller, most recently for Smith Pipe and Supply.

James was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers Bill and David Proctor. He is survived by his loving wife Janie of Abilene, two children James Matthew Proctor with his wife Leslie Proctor, and Loren Elizabeth Lucas with her husband Brice Lucas; a sister J’Lynn Proctor of Houston; three sisters-in-law, Sharon Proctor and Katy Bruce of Abilene and Cherry Proctor of San Antonio; Mother-in-Law Doris Johnson and numerous nieces and nephews.

James Proctor was a man of the rarest form. He possessed a solid heart with a strong resolve and a sense of integrity that sets the standard for us all. James’s integrity could be seen in all aspects of his life. His insatiable dedication to his work made him an invaluable asset to all who did business with him. If James gave you his word, you could bet everything you own on him without hesitation and he would follow through above all expectations.

The love and commitment that this man had for the people he cared about can not even be put into words. It was an unspoken love that you could literally feel if you were fortunate enough to be in the same room with him and his family. The love that James instilled is like a priceless heirloom that will be treasured and handed down through his legacy for many generations to come. Knowing his family is like looking through the eyes of God and understanding exactly what our purpose is on this planet.

James was of an old spirit, matured and wise. When James spoke, his words were either full of meaning or incredibly hilarious. This characteristic lives on in his son Matt, who is similar to James in many ways. He raised a fine young man who is self sufficient and values the importance of integrity and being a dependable human being.

Within James there beats a tender heart that loved and nurtured his wife Janie and his daughter Loren. When he looked upon their faces you could see this unconditional love so clearly that it is of little surprise how genuinely happy Janie and Loren are. His daughter Loren carries with her this tender lovingness and deep appreciation for the world she lives in.

Many people can create life, but James has created a desire to live a great and meaningful life within other people. This is a very special gift and cannot be obtained with any amount of money.
James’s wife and loving partner Janie lives on for him. She is the cornerstone of the family and has an inner strength and calmness that can inspire us all to persevere in even the worst of times. Her love for her family and for her late husband will never fade and she treasures the time she had with James as the most precious jewel on earth.

The family would like to express its appreciation to Smith Pipe for their continued support through these difficult times. Serving as Pallbearers will be; David Jones, Robert Gillespie, Greg Blackburn, Robert Cockrell, Cade Emerson, and Jonathan Daniel.
