Becky Ray Smith

December 23, 1921 — May 22, 2011

Ella Elizabeth "Becky" Smith, 89 of Abilene, passed away Sunday May 22, 2011 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene. Her service is scheduled for 10:00 am Saturday May 28 at the Piersall Benton Chapel, 733 Butternut St with Pastor Tim Temple officiating. A visitation will be held Friday evening from 5-7pm at the funeral home.

Becky was born December 23, 1921 in Alpharetta, GA to Fredrick and Lizzie May Ray. Most of Becky's childhood and early adult life was spent in Georgia. In 1943 she moved to Abilene and on February 14, 1945 she married the love of her life, Bernard Smith. Becky found great joy in taking care of her family and serving the Abilene Bible Church. In addition, she was a co-owner of the Bible Book Store, and a member of the Gideon's Auxiliary as well as the Bible Memory Association.

Surviving Becky are her husband of 66 years Bernard Smith of Abilene, a son Garry Smith and wife Betty, son-in-law Steven Perry, brother William Ray, and grandchildren; Stephanie Travis, Ross Smith, Bernice Holland, David Perry, Charissa Sellers, Carl Smith and Bethany Hassman; 18 great grandchildren as well as a host of extended family and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Sandra Kathleen Perry, and three sisters; Kathleen Ray, Christine Temple and Sara Edna Ely.
