E.J. Black, Jr., 75 of Anson, passed away Tuesday February the 1st, 2011 at the Plaza at Mansfield Nursing Center. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm in the Hawley Cemetery on Sunday the 6th under the direction of Piersall Benton Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St. A visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
E.J. was born August the 19th, 1935 in Anson, Texas to E.J. Black, Sr. and Tula Beasley Black. He grew up in Anson and graduated from Anson High School. E.J. enjoyed doing many different careers during his lifetime. He worked as a butcher, a carpenter and even in the Aerospace and Defense Industry. Spending time with his family was E.J.'s favorite thing to do but he also enjoyed traveling, dancing and playing games.
Surviving E.J. are his two daughters: Sandie Rea and Tammie Sarna, two sons: E.J. Dwaine Black and Keith Black, four grandchildren: Jonathan Neiman, Zachary O'Donnell, Falan Walker, and Nancy Cox, two sisters: Frances Ward and Etta Woodard, and a brother James L. Black. Preceding him in death are his parents and three brothers: Clyde, Thomas, and Leon Black.
