Robert Michael (Mike) Neal of Abilene died Sunday, January 30, 2011 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas. The Graveside services previously scheduled to be held at Buffalo Gap Cemetery in Buffalo Gap, Texas on Friday, February 4, 2011 at 3:00pm have been changed to a chapel service at Piersall Benton Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St.
Mike was born in Tulia, Texas on August 22, 1939. He was the son of the late Oscar Neal and Ruby McNeil. He graduated from Stratford High School in Stratford, Texas and attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Oklahoma. He also served in the United States Army stationed in Frankfort, Germany.
Mike married Jean Ann McFarland in Amarillo, Texas on December 18, 1973. It was in Amarillo that he began his life long career in the building industry. He later moved to Abilene, Texas and was employed by Associated Contractors Incorporated and later was a founder of ACTION builders. Throughout the last 20 years , he worked with Don Poindexter and WesTGo. Mike enjoyed his time with WesTGo and his friendships made were a true blessing.
Mike is survived by his wife, Jean Ann and three daughters, Michelle Neal of California, Jim Ann Bush of Vernon, Texas and Jan McCaslin and husband Gary McCaslin of Abilene, Texas. He is also survived by his sister Rita Trimble of Colorado, five granddaughters and five great-grandchildren, mother-in-law Jeanne Mimms, brother-in-law Jackie McFarland, and many nieces and nephews who loved him very much.
