Sandra Hanks Shaw, 77, of Abilene passed away on December 28, 2010 at a local medical facility. A funeral service will be held 1:00 pm, Friday, December 31, 2010 at the Piersall Chapel 733 Butternut. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. There will be a visitation Thursday the 30th from 6 to 7 at the Piersall Funeral Directors.
Sandra was born To Rollie J. Hanks and Eva L. Hanks on March 20, 1933 in Abilene, Texas. She graduated from Abilene High School, and later attended McMurry University.. On November 2, 1978, she married James Shaw, who was the absolute love of her life. They shared happiness, joy, compassion, trust, love, and bliss. Sandra was a hard worker and worked in the offices of many businesses, but the highlight of her career was being in sales. She really enjoyed the sales department of F & S Clothiers and Andrews Furniture. She leaves behind countless friends, and love ones. She never met anyone she did not like, or anyone who did not like her. It was just the way she was, she was loved and will be missed by all who knew her. She was a member of Southern Hills Church of Christ.
She is survived by her lifelong friend, companion, and confidant and husband of 32 years, James F. Shaw, her sister Georgi Hanks of Abilene, son Chris Bridges of Abilene, step son Mark Shaw of Abilene, step daughters Vicky Ray of Graham, Sammie Baird of Austin, Lori Van Cleave of Temple, several grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren, and a host of dear friends.
Sandra was preceded in death by her son Mark Bridges in 1986.
