Hollis Lee Spruill, 44, of Abilene, Texas passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025 due to complications from diabetes.
Hollis was born in DeLeon, Texas on March 21, 1980. His parents were Ralph DeWitt Spruill and Clara Green Spruill. Upon the death of his dad, Hollis was adopted by his aunt Laura Spruill James.
As a young teen-ager, Hollis accepted Jesus as his savior and attended Pioneer Drive Baptist Church in Abilene, Texas. Hollis lived most of his life in or around Abilene. He moved to Comanche to live with his Uncle Stuart for a few years and graduated from Comanche High School.
Hollis loved watching all sports, especially football. He listened to country and western music and enjoyed watching scary movies. He loved animals and had several dogs throughout his life.
Hollis is survived by his parents, Doug and Laura Vinson, his brothers Billy Spruill, Josh James and his wife Liz, David Vinson and his wife April and one sister, Kim Spruill, his Uncle Stuart Spruill and Aunt Adell Stokes and her husband Dale Stokes. He was also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews that he loved spending time with during family gatherings and holidays.
The family and friends will gather for a gravesite service on Saturday, February 1 at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Comanche, Texas at 4:00pm.
